Why Do We Use Mannequins For Dental Radiology?

First week of Dental Radiology and our students are doing well!

Salt Lake Academy of Dental Assisting invests in several dental X-ray mannequins (Dexter) which have radiographic teeth. This enables students to get the very best training and as much practice as possible. It is prohibited by law to practice radiography on each other. By using Dexter, students can evaluate their X-rays and adjust their technique until they get a perfect diagnostic X-ray, without exposing each other to un-necessary radiation.

The next 3 weeks will be spent in Radiology lab and after a final exam, our students will be Certified in Dental Radiology for the State of Utah.

  1. According to me, the benefits of mannequins in dentistry is constantly being assessed as a method or an adjunct to improve fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination in pre-clinical settings and overcome the monetary and intellectual challenges involved with such training.
